Allow changeover rule variations that are selectable when scheduling

The following guide walks through the steps to allow changeover variations to be selectable when scheduling, for example the number of crew available may change the length of the changeover available.

1. Configure order attribute

   1. Navigate to Setup > Organization

   2. Press the Order Attributes button

   3. Create a new Order Attribute

      1. Select type picklist

      2. Unselect “Allow other values”

      3. Press “Add Option” for each variation

      4. Press Save

2. Next, configure changeovers for the variations

   1. Navigate to Setup > Changeovers

   2. Create Standard Changeovers for each variation. See below for example:

   3. Next, create Changeover Rules referencing the variations

      1. Overview of finished product

          

      2. For each variation, ensure the following is correct

         1. A descriptive name

         2. Select one of the Changeover Types created in the previous step

         3. Select the “Advanced” checkbox

         4. In the “Orders Matching” field, enter a filter referencing the Order Attribute name and one of the picklist values entered in step 1.

            1. For binary values, like “high” vs “low” crew, it is suggested to create a pair of changeover rules, one with a positive pattern and one with a negative pattern. For example:

               1. Positive: Changeover_Crew:Heavy

               2. Negative: -Changeover_Crew:Heavy

               3. Note: the - character in the negative rule. This rule becomes the default rule because it matches blank values and Light crew.

               4. Note: Any spaces in the changeover name are replaced with underscores

               5. Note: the patterns are case-sensitive.

3. Configure the schedule to show the rule

   1. Configure columns for the line or line group you’re using:
      
      

       

   2. Drag the Order Attribute created in step one to the appropriate place
      
      

       

   3. Double-click on a cell in this column to adjust the value for this order. Select a value and press enter. Now the changeover criteria will be re-evaluated and the changeover will be updated.
