Importing Product Wheels

Purpose

To import a Product Wheel file into the Phenix scheduler.

Prerequisites

All materials and lines are already created in Phenix.

Design the product wheel, including the cycle length, number of cycles, the material numbers for the spokes in each cycle, and their sequence within the cycle.

Steps

Create a Wheel Import File

  1. The import needs the following information for each Spoke in each cycle: Line Identifier, Cycle Number, and Material Identifier.

  2. Each entry (or row) in the import file represents one Spoke of the Wheel.

    • All Spokes (or rows in the file) must be grouped first by Line, and then, within the Line, by Cycle Number.

      • If Lines or Cycles are interspersed with each other, the import will fail.

    • Spokes within a cycle must be listed in the order they’re meant to run.

    • You may have additional columns in the file; the columns here are the only required ones. Additional columns will go unmapped and will be ignored in the import process.

Export a Product Wheel to Create a Template

If there is already an existing Wheel for the Line in Phenix, and you would like to make simple changes to the Wheel, it is recommended to export the current Wheel, edit the file, and then use the file for the import.

To export a Line’s Wheel:

  1. Click the menu path Setup>Sites. Click All Lines at the top of the page.

  2. Select the line for which you want to maintain the Product Wheel.

  3. Click View Active Wheel.

  4. Click Export.

  5. The line's current Product Wheel will be exported to your PC as a. .XLSX (Excel) file.  Open the file, edit the rows as desired, and save your changes. Use the file with the subsequent instructions to import the update.

Import a New or Updated Wheel Design into Phenix

For a step-by-step, in depth guide of Phenix’s general import process, see the How-To article Import Data.

  1. Click on the menu path General > Import.

  2. Under the header Master Data, click Wheels to import a Product Wheel.

  3. Click on New Import.

  4. Drag and drop the Wheel import file into the box, or select "click to upload" to search for the file on your PC.

  5. If the file has multiple sheets, select the one containing the Wheel design, then click Continue.

  6. Click on  next to the entry for the columns in the sheet for Line Identifier, Cycle Number, and Material Identifier, and select the proper mapping option for the drop-down.

  7. When the three required fields have been mapped, click on Ignore Unmapped to ignore any remaining unnecessary fields in your spreadsheet.

  8. Click Continue, and then Confirm Import.

  9. You will be prompted that your import finished and completed successfully.

    1. Any errors that occur will be displayed. An error means the import has failed. If necessary, correct any incorrect data in your spreadsheet then rerun the import. If the error was a mapping problem, you can remap any fields that were incorrectly mapped.
