Maintain Production Rate Rules

Purpose

To maintain the rules that determine the production rates Phenix will use when calculating the run time of orders.

Prerequisites

The Organization has been created, but does not have to be fully configured.

If any Production Rates are specific to certain Production Lines, the Line must be created.

If any Production Rates are specific to certain Materials, the Material must be created.

Production Rate Overriding

Production rates in Phenix can vary in their specificity. A Production Rate can apply to a specific Line, a specific Material, both, or neither. In situations where multiple Production Rates can apply, the more specific Production Rates will override the less specific ones.

Phenix ranks production Rate specificity as follows:

  1. Production rate with a Material and a Line.

  2. Production Rate with a Material only.

  3. Production Rate with a Line only.

  4. Production Rate without a Material or a Line.

The Production Rate Rule entered may not be the “actual” rate used. This depends on the efficiency used with the rule, and how you choose to represent rates in Phenix. For more information, see Representing Production Rates.

Steps

Production Rates can be created and updated manually or by using Phenix’s Import function Production Rates. While this article only covers manual creation and maintanence, if your organization has many Rroduction Rates by Line or by Material, it is reccommended to import them from an external file. See Import Data for more information on Phenix’s import functionalities.

  1. Click on the menu path Setup>Materials.

    1. Alternatively, production rate rules can be maintained as described in the Maintain Materials section.

  2. This is the Production Rate Rules page.

  3. To create a new Production Rate Rule, click Create Rule.

    1. See Production Rate Rule Data Definitions below for more information.

  4. Edit an existing Production Rate by clicking Edit in the right “Actions” menu of the Production Rate’s entry.

    1. See Production Rate Rule Data Definitions below for more information.

  5. Delete an existing Production Rate by clicking in the right “Actions” menu of the Production Rate’s entry.

  6. Clicking Export Production Rates will download a .XLSX (Excel) file containing all Production Rates in the organization to your computer.

  7. Clicking Export All Rates (Advanced) will download a .XLSX (Excel) file containing all rates: Production Rates, BOM Item consumption rates, and Resource consumption rates.

  8. Use the Filter by line drop-down to filter the current display of Production Rates to only those that are specific to that Line or Line Group.

  9. Use the search bar above the Production Rates display to filter the display to only those that are specific to that Material.

Production Rate Rule Data Definitions

When creating or editing a Production Rate, a window will open with the same data inputs.

  • Material Being Produced: Optional. The Material the Production Rate applies to. Leave blank if the Production Rate can apply to any Material.

  • Rate per Minute: The ideal rate of production, per minute. Enter the value and then select the unit.

  • Default Rate Efficiency: Optional. The percentage of the ideal rate production is expected to run at. Given as an integer. If left blank, the Line’s efficiency will be used. If the Line’s efficiency is also not specified, the Organization’s efficiency will be used.

  • Line: Optional. The Line the Production Rate applies to. Leave blank or as “Any Line” if the Production Rate can apply to any Line.

  • Line Filter: Optional. The category of Lines the Production Rate applies to. Leave black to apply to any category of lines. Enter the line filter using Phenix Filtering Syntax.
