Add a new SKU including to the Wheel Design
In order to schedule the production of a new product, the product needs to be added as master data and then added to the appropriate wheel design. This guide covers both parts.
Hint: If you have several materials to add, create them all first (Step 1), before continuing to Step 2.

Instructions
Step 1: Create the material
There are two ways to create the new material depending on how similar it is to an existing material:
If the material is similar to an existing material, navigate to the existing material and use the “Make a Copy” function.
Press the “Make a Copy” button
In the dialog, change any attributes that differ:
Enter the new name and description
Set the forecast to the new value
Set any attributes that differ
When making the copy, ensure the Production Rates and BOM items checkboxes are checked
Press the Make a Copy button. You will be navigated to the new material
If production rates, modify them now
If the BOM or BOM consumption rates differ for this material, modify them now
Or, if the material is quite different, you can create a new material
Navigate to the Materials page and press the Create button
Enter appropriate master data
Enter production rates if applicable
Enter BOM items including their rates if applicable
Check that there are no warnings on the material detail page
In either case, ensure that the new material has the correct material type, forecast, COGs, rates and material attributes.
Step 2: Create a new Wheel Design session from the previous one
Navigate to the “Wheels” page and identify the Wheel session to modify
Use the “More Actions” dropdown to select the “New Version” action
When processing is complete, you’ll see the new version with an incremented number (in this case 106). Note that version 105 is available if you set the filter to “Archived”.
Navigate to the newly created session
Step 3: Add the material to the new Wheel Design session
Navigate to the new version that was created above. In the following step, we’ll be applying the new materials to several of the steps. As an overview, these are the steps that we’ll visit in the next steps:
Setup → Select Materials
Families → Setup Material Families (If applicable)
Allocation → Materials to Line Allocation
Design → Line Ideal Sequence
Design → Frequencies and Wheel Length
Design → Allocate Materials to Wheel Cycles
Design → Wheel Sequencing
Review
Here are the steps in detail:
Navigate to the “Select Materials” step under “Setup”
Select the new material and press Save
Only if you are using families: add the material to the appropriate family using the “Setup Material Families” step under “Families”. Then update the “Family Ideal Sequence” too, if applicable.
Navigate to the “Materials to Line Allocation” step under “Allocation” and make the allocation
Now we’ll go through each of the “Design” steps for the lines whose allocation was modified.
Hint: In the following steps, use similar materials as a guide or starting point for your decisionsNavigate to the “Line Ideal Sequence” step under “Design” and navigate to the line
Verify the new material is at the appropriate sequence, and save the new sequence
When saving, if there is a warning about applying the sequence to the “Wheel Sequence” step, read the message carefully. If in doubt, press the “Save ideal sequence only” button.
Continue to the “Frequencies and Wheel Length” step
Assign a frequency for the new material
Once all materials have a frequency, you’ll be able to continue to the “Allocate Materials to Wheel Cycles” step
Find the new material and verify it is in the appropriate cycles
Continue to the “Wheel Sequencing” step. Review the sequence is appropriate. Pay attention to the “Irregularity” column to ensure production is regular across cycles
Now we’re ready to activate the new wheel on the “Review” step. The changes described here is not a “major change” so there is no need to unscheduled orders first.
You will be navigated back to the “Wheels” page once activation is complete. Your new wheels will now be used next time you schedule!
If you make a mistake that is difficult to recover from or want to review old wheel designs, you can always review Archived designs or even create a new active session from an old version.
