Maintain Lines

Purpose

Create and maintain Lines within a Production Area of Phenix.

Prerequisites

An Organization has been created, a Site has been created within the Organization, and an Area has been created within the Site. Desired Line Types and Attributes have been created.

Steps

Lines

  1. Click on the Area you want to maintain the Lines of. This will make the header Lines in Area [Site Name] appear.

    1. Under this header are buttons for Line Types and Line Attributes. These allow you to create, edit, or delete Line Types and Line Attributes from inside the Site’s page. See Maintain Line Types and Attributes for more information.

  2. To create a Line, click Create Line.

  3. To edit an existing Line, click Details in the right “Actions” column of the Line’s entry, and then click Edit at the top of the screen.

  4. Whether creating or editing, a window with the same entries will open:

    • Line ID: Name or ID of the Line. What the Line will generally be referred to as in other pieces of Master Data.

    • Description: The plain words description of the Line.

    • Alternate Names: Optional. Other names that can be used for the line.

    • Type: Select the type of line from the drop-down list. Options are Line Types already created. See Maintain Lines, Line Types, and Attributes for more information.

    • Committed Window: Number of days, hours, and minutes from now in which orders should be committed.  Leave at zero to use the organizational default.

    • Planning Window: Number of days, hours, and minutes from now in which orders will be automatically planned by Phenix.  Leave at zero to use the organizational default.

    • Default Production Rate Efficiency: The percent of ideal production rate the line runs at, on average. Leave blank to use organization default.

    • Fully-Loaded Cost of Runtime: The full cost of running the line per minute. This is used in the Wheel Designer.

    • Default Manufacturing Variation: Default manufacturing variation or production error. This is used in the Wheel Designer and can be overwritten on the material level.

    • Additional Line Attributes: If the chosen Line Type has assigned Line Attributes, each will appear at the bottom of the window.

  5. To edit an existing Line, click the entry of the Line, and then click Edit at the top of the screen.

  6. To delete a line, find the entry of the Line, and then click in the right “Actions” column.

Customizing Line Availability

  1. Click Details in the right “Actions” column of the Line’s entry. This will take you to the Line’s Details page.

  2. Click Customize next to the header Availability. A copy of the Orgnaization’s Default Line Availability will be shown.

    1. Note: At this point, even if no changes are made, the Line is following its own, custom availability. If changes are made to the Organization’s Default Line Availability, they will not be reflected in the custom Line availability (unless a global Outage is created).

      1. To uncustomize the Line Availability and return to using the Organization’s Default, click Uncustomize next to the Availability header.
