Import New Orders from an External File
Purpose
To import into Phenix the new orders to be scheduled.
Prerequisites
All materials must be already created in Phenix, have a preferred line assigned, have a production rate at least on the preferred line, and be included in the Wheel at least on the preferred line.
Steps
If you do not have one, get or generate a file to import from. This file can be downloaded from your ERP/MRP/Planning system, or generated in Excel.
At a minimum, the file should include the Material ID, the order quantity, the order’s Unit of Measure, and Due Date.
If the orders were generated by an external system, it may be helpful to include the external system's order number in the import.
If you wish to also import scheduled or committed orders, it is necessary to at least two more columns: Order Status and Import Scheduled Date (if all orders in the file are “scheduled” or “committed”, you do not need Due Date, though it is still recommended). If multiple orders have the same Import Scheduled Date, then you also need Import Priority In Day to tell Phenix what sequence the orders run.
If desired, the Line Identifier of the Line the order should be run on may be specified. If not specified, the order will be put on the Line with a Wheel containing the order’s Material.
Additional columns may be included in the file that are helpful in understanding, creating, or reviewing the import file, such as Material Description. These columns will simply not be imported during the import process.
An example of the structure of an import file is below. For more information on each possible data field of the Order Import process, see Orders Import.
